Alicia Payne is a multi-disciplinary storyteller from Canada whose credits include theatre, film, television and radio. Alicia co-facilitates youth leadership creative workshops where youth co-created graphic novels and short operas inspired by their neighborhoods. Alicia conducts leadership training sessions and adaptive change workshops with arts organizations. Alicia is the audiobook narrator of Flower Diary by Molly Peacock and a co-founder of Arbez Drama Projects. Professional memberships include, ACTRA, CAEA, Dramatists Guild of America and Playwrights Guild of Canada where she served as president. Alicia believes in the power of storytelling to build community.

PANEL DISCUSSION: Overcoming Barriers – Embracing our Culture and Differences in Theatre & Film
Description: Artists of Color (AOC) have dealt with racism, colorism, whitewashing, and stereotypes throughout vaudeville, theatre, film, and television. However, they have always found a way to publicly tell and celebrate their culture and differences.
This panel will discuss what was, what is, and what is to come for AOC in the entertainment industry.
